A Contemporary Tale Of Weaving

Kutch weaving, known as Marwada style, is one of the most well-known crafts from the district of Kutch in Gujarat (India). It is about 500 years old and many communities over the years have specialised in the weaving of motifs of this craft. This fine textile is one of the most sustainable and long lasting. Kala cotton (Gossypium herbaceum) is an indigenous strain of rain-fed ‘old world’ cotton. Kala cotton is an energy efficient and carbon neutral crop. Ampar is committed to support remote artisans in India to sustain art culture and believe in conservation.
